Privacy notice
Last updated: 22 October 2026
This notice explains what personal data Temperate collects when you visit temperate.works, join the waitlist or write to us, what we do with it, and what you can ask of us. We keep as little as we can: this site sets no cookies and has no analytics.

What this notice covers
This notice covers this website, the waitlist and email you send us. "Personal data" means any information about a person who can be identified, directly or indirectly. The Temperate product itself is not covered here: it gets its own notice and data processing agreement when it opens.
Who is responsible
Temperate is the controller of the personal data described here: we decide why and how it is processed. You can reach us at [email protected].
What we collect and why
This table lists each kind of personal data, why we collect it, the legal basis under the GDPR, and how long we keep it:
- Your email address
- Why: To confirm your address, and then to tell you when our beta is available and share what we release along the way.
- Legal basis: Your consent, which you give when you sign up and confirm.
- Kept: Until you ask us to remove it, or until the waitlist ends. If you never confirm, 30 days.
- The sentence you agreed to, and the times you signed up and confirmed
- Why: To show what you agreed to, and when.
- Legal basis: Our legal obligation to be able to prove consent.
- Kept: As long as your email address.
- Your IP address and the technical details of your browser
- Why: To check that a person, not a bot, uses the form, and to keep the site running and secure.
- Legal basis: Our legitimate interest in a secure site without spam.
- Kept: Not stored by us. Cloudflare handles it under its own retention terms.
- What you write to us by email
- Why: To answer you.
- Legal basis: Our legitimate interest in answering questions.
- Kept: As long as needed to help you, and then removed.
We do not use your data for anything else, we do not sell it, and we do not give it to anyone to market their own products. We do not make decisions about you by automated means.
Where the data comes from
- *From you, when you sign up for the waitlist or write to us.
- *From your browser, when it loads this site or the check on the sign-up form.
We do not buy data about you or collect it from other sources.
Who handles it for us
These companies process personal data on our behalf, under a data processing agreement, and only for the purposes above:
- *Cloudflare runs this site, keeps the waitlist, and checks with Turnstile that a person, not a bot, signs up.
- *Amazon Web Services sends our emails, from Frankfurt.
- *Attio keeps our list of contacts.
- *Slack tells our team that someone joined the waitlist.
- *Google Workspace holds the email you send us.
We may also share personal data when the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a merger or sale of our business. In that last case, this notice keeps applying to your data.
Data outside the European Economic Area
Some of these companies are based outside the European Economic Area, for example in the United States. When your data leaves the EEA, it is protected by an adequacy decision of the European Commission, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, or by the standard contractual clauses of the European Commission. You can ask us for a copy of these safeguards.
Cookies and analytics
This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking. The Turnstile check loads only when you use the sign-up form, so a visit in which you only read makes no request to it.
Security
We protect personal data with technical and organizational measures that fit the data: encryption in transit and at rest, access for only the people who need it, and a fingerprint of the link in our email instead of the link itself. No method of sending or storing data is completely secure, but we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires if a breach puts your data at risk.
How long we keep it
We keep personal data only as long as the table above says. When that time ends, we remove it, or keep it only in a form that no longer identifies you.
Children
The waitlist is for people of 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect data of younger children. If you think a child signed up, write to us and we will remove the data.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- *see the personal data we keep about you, and get a copy of it;
- *have it corrected when it is wrong;
- *have it removed;
- *limit how we use it, or object to a use based on our legitimate interest;
- *receive it in a common, machine-readable format;
- *withdraw your consent at any time, which does not affect what we did before.
Write to [email protected]. We answer within one month and charge nothing, unless a request is clearly unfounded or excessive. We may ask you to confirm that the request comes from you. If you think we handle your data wrongly, you can complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or to the authority where you live.
Changes to this notice
When we change this notice, we update the date at the top. If a change affects what you agreed to, we tell you by email before it applies.
